I just launched the biggest and most exciting pop-up in EYE BUY ART history, in the heart of Toronto’s Financial District, and I’d love you to join me!

A 6-week Pop-Up by EYE BUY ART
October 16 – November 24, 2017

Opening Thursday, October 19th from 5:00 – 7:00pm
Please RSVP to fcpevents@brookfield.com

FCP Gallery
100 King Street West / Bank of Montreal Tower
Financial District
Toronto, ON
WEEKDAY Hours: 11:00am – 3:00pm, Monday to Friday and by appointment
WEEKEND HoursSaturday November 18th and Sunday November 19th (ONLY) from 10am – 4pm

Note: it’s a good idea to call ahead during the week to make sure the gallery is open, as it is sometimes closed for private events. Please text or call 416-200-8774 to confirm.

This exhibition is unlike anything I’ve presented before, and will comprise over 1500 square feet of new work, including one-of-a-kind paper cut-outs by Ontario artist Becky Comber, floated paint shadowboxes by newcomer (to me) Heidi Conrod, and limited edition, large-scale photographs by LA artist Ryan Schude and Toronto artist Kristin Sjaarda (see preview below – pricing and details available upon request).

I am also launching a very special partnership with 3M, who have generously provided support to exhibit grand
format, limited edition murals in the lobby of First Canadian Place (in the BMO Tower, where my pop-up is), where over 80,000 people a day will be passing through. This new program will launch the release of a new kind of art form; mural-sized, limited edition photographs that can be custom fit to your wall.

ARTIST TALK: In Conversation with Kristin Sjaarda and the ROM

Thursday, November 16, 2017
12:15pm to 1:00pm
FCP Gallery

Join us for a chance to win $250 in art!

Please join Toronto artist Kristin Sjaarda in conversation with Mark Peck, the Ornithologist from the Natural History Department at the ROM. Kristin is a rising star in the world of contemporary, fine art photography in Canada. Her botanical photographs are stunning – with distinct references to the Dutch Masters of the 17th Century – yet the work is deeply rooted in contemporary life. Kristin will discuss the critical role of nature, in the context of her work; the flowers she grows in her backyard garden here in Toronto, and the birds which she borrows from a rescue and research program at the ROM, in partnership with FLAP.

This is a story about the interconnectedness of the natural world; a world that is beyond human perception, and yet which we rely upon for our survival. This will be a deeply fascinating conversation that will reveal layers of meaning within Kristin’s work, and which will speak to the importance of narrative in art.

The event will conclude with a draw to win a $250 gift certificate from EYE BUY ART!

A big thank you to Chatelaine Magazine for including EYE BUY ART in the September issue, featuring the article “The 3 Best Places to Buy Art (And How To Do It Well)”. It’s an honour to be recognized in this way. Chatelaine is Canada’s most widely circulated magazine, and is known as the preeminent leader in Canadian coverage of women’s issues, including the rise of feminism as a social phenomenon. What a badge of honour.
