Untitled Interior (World), 2010
from the series Living Arrangements

This image was taken at a home in Quechee, Vermont.  Most of my images are made in New England and reflect the styles of this area.  I shoot with a 4x5 camera which gives me a large negative with great color saturation and because I use a small aperture for large depth of field and crisp images, my exposures become quite long.   I loved the map wallpaper and moved objects slightly to create this composition and then lit the scene.  I was interested in the “redundancy” of the map and the globe as well as the ironic placement of the dartboard.  The clash of time periods of the antique furniture with the contemporary dartboard also fascinated me.
