The abstract geometry of Zen Shapes plays with the representation of space and calm in visual form. The playfulness of the negative space is intended to evoke the idea of “breath”–inhalation and exhalation.
Carly Tan is a budding Vancouver-based artist, and creative entrepreneur whose passions include running multiple e-commerce businesses. Raised in Southeast Asia as a ‘Third Culture Kid’ with a diverse family background, Carly aims to brings her unique worldview into her work. Self-taught as a graphic designer, illustrator, and portrait photographer, Carly’s style and expression across each medium is exploratory and ever-changing; ranging from dark and nostalgic to colourful and child-like. The latter expression being a major focal point in her current series of collections – created in late 2020/early 2021 with the desire of bringing levity to hard times through the use of playful colourways, easy flowing lines, and simplicity in design.
Each artwork is custom framed in a wood frame with D-rings for installation. Framing is completed in Toronto, Canada.
